Hi everyone!
To give you a little bit of a context: I am a Blue Card holder residing in Berlin since August 2022 and have been working as a product marketing manager in an IT company with a >56K salary.
On my Zusatzblatt, there isn’t any company name or any specific position / role. So I don’t think it’s tied to one.
It only reads the following: SELBSTÄNDIGE TÄTIGKEIT ERLAUBT NACH 2JÄHR. VERSICHERUNGSPFL. BESCHÄFTIG. IST BESCHÄFTIGT. JEDER ART ERLAUBT. BESCHÄFTIGUNG GEMÄß § 18B ABS. 2 S. 1 AUFENTHG ERLAUBT.
Having read the section 18B and knowing that I need to inform the local authorities to change jobs within the first 2 years of having a Blue card, I also wanted to ask this during my Blue Card appointment. I specifically asked the person in Ausländerbehörde whether I need to do anything if I wanted to change jobs.
He said: “As long as you are above the salary limit with your new job, you don’t need to take any extra actions.”
Now onto my questions:
I have researched a lot but couldn’t find anything properly explanatory.
1- I have been working with 56,500 EUR salary – which covers the 2022’s threshold. Now, I got a new job offer that starts on January 2, 2023. Given that new Blue Card salary will be around 58,400 EUR for 2023, do I have to adjust my new salary and meet the requirement again? Or does it not apply to my case since my Blue card was issued in August 2022? I couldn’t find any official letter explaining this. The new offer is below 58,400 EUR.
2- I know that the person in the immigration office told me that I don’t need to take any extra action for changing jobs but I just couldn’t make sure.
In the following link, the second question merely implies that I don’t need to amend my Blue card since it doesn’t specify a company name: https://service.berlin.de/dienstleistung/326856/en/
But still, I am a bit confused and don’t want to take any chance. So would it be wise to get an appointment to ask about my situation? Would love to get some clarifications.
Thanks and happy holidays!
