Seems a case of good management and use of resources? As she points out it’s still not a sustainable system long term but perhaps a template for others through a squeeze??
Really throwing around the word “epidemic” these days
Their management of the trolley problem wouldn’t work on a national scale as it relies on delaying transfers from other hospitals, discharging patients early, and cancelling non-emergency treatment.
Basically they’re gaming the numbers by delivering a poorer service while also distributing their burden onto other hospitals, making their numbers even worse. This is not an ideal and it is not a goal to strive for, not even in the short term.
only counting trolleys in the ed though. Easy way to massage the figures as there are people on trolleys out there as it says it in the article.
Stinks of the unemployment figures that didnt count people who were still unemployed but on schemes so didnt appear on the register.
University Hospital Waterford is by far and away the worst funded of the Model 4 level hospitals and the Cork dominated SSWHG make sure that remains the case so they’re running to stand still.
Ye, not the best hospital in Ireland…
Because they’re all still in the ambulances! I’ve seen 6 and 7 ambulances parked up at ED several times in the last week.
We just removed the wheels from out trollies. Problem sorted
During covid Waterford hospital lasted a really long time before they got hit with an outbreak. I heard they were the only hospital covid free at one point… but that’s only hearsay.
