Yeah no shit an underfudned tory fucked system isn’t sustainable.
Invest. That is the answer. Invest and it can work.

Sajid Javid says current model of NHS ‘not sustainable’ for future
Sajid Javid has suggested the current model of the NHS is “not sustainable” for the future.
The Tory MP, who has announced he is stepping down at the next general election, made the comments during an interview with Sky News on Thursday.
“I don’t think the model of the NHS – as it was set up some 70 years ago – is sustainable for the future,” Mr Javid said.
“The world has changed and the NHS has not moved on… even before the pandemic, it was heading in that direction.”
NOTE: watch the clip from the interview on the page.
Well it would be fit for purpose if the cretins in government and the hieracy who run it stopped wasting money on multilevels of management who contribute nothing in real terms and put matrons back in charge instead of so called management experts
He’s a Tory for goodness sakes. Of course it’s not sustainable when he wants to give away every bloody penny in the treasury to his buddies and friends. The Tories are a plague on modern England. Infecting and killing everything they touch.
Ensuring this was the case is one of the few things they’ve done well
Well of course it isn’t. When one in 12 people are on a waiting list and your waiting lists are 3 years long, suffering from worsening conditions that require much more treatment and poorer outcomes the longer they wait, no wonder it’s falling to pieces. We have the worst access to healthcare in Europe.
Entirely unrelated but this is the first time a conservative politician has actually suited the inexplicable beard.
Mad Sajidaddy energy.
It actually isn’t, to be fair. It can’t respond to economic or public health shocks very well at all. We really should have a health system that can both do the day-to-day and prepare for emergencies.
In my opinion, government-mandated public insurance paid for out of general taxation is the way to do this, as we’d have the same access as we do now (100%), but private companies could compete behind the scenes. Then again, this is the British government, and they‘d likely give one private company a monopoly in each area and that would be a disaster.
Edit: I don’t know why people are downvoting this; it’s not some dystopia. Germany and a lot of continental European countries use exactly the same model and it is far more efficient and cost effective than a monolithic healthcare service like the NHS. Hell, you could even call it the NHS and have NHS placards on the buildings if you want. The end result is the same: better healthcare.
Isn’t it remarkable how much more technologically advanced we are are since the 50s, it has to mean something doesn’t it? But apparently people simply living a few years long on average negates the astronomical increases in efficiency and wealth.
I think the uk ends as a country when the NHS goes.
The whole idea is to move tax payers money into private. God forbid it ends up like the US. Then the insurance companies clean up as well. The general public end up taking it both ends: A healthcare spit roast.
Typical Tory mind-set.
The thing that the Tories want to change about the NHS is that it spends more money than they would like saving poor people’s lives. My nan beat cancer three times over thirty years. Under a private healthcare system, she might have had to sell her house the first time, and died the second.
The NHS is expensive because it pays to saves lives in ways that are not cost effective. That’s why is is morally necessary. It spends a lot less than patients in private hospitals in the USA have to spend on a lot of procedures that can actually be done cheaply. That’s why it is practically necessary.
People get everyday medications like asthma inhalers and insulin much, much more cheaply under the NHS.
So surge pricing at GPs amd A&E, euthenasia option for those who can’t pay for it?
Javid comes from a party that is happy to give away up to 40p in the £ of NHS funding to private companies. That means underfunding the NHS by up to 40%. By design and policy. That is not sustainable. Pretending that is the fault of the NHS is a lie. Not an ideological position. Not nuance. A lie. Javid is lying about the NHS. And there is an entire industry protecting that lie. After all, there is about £60Bn at stake in the short term – up to £240Bn in the longer term when the NHS privatisation is completed. So it is worth announcing you are leaving Parliament, that the “current model” of the NHS – *or local councils, Prison Service, Police, you name it, if it is Publically Owned just say “current model not sustainable” and you are on to a winner* – is not sustainable. You will find friendly Employers – say Merchant Bankers, US Insurance Companies, Hedge Funds or Venture Capitalists issuing all manner of reports to support you. Because the real grift is the post-office grift. Fewer constraints on Sajid Javid (private citizen) than Sajid Javid PM.
He would, wouldn’t he?
The problem, even ignoring that any ither system would result in people having to choose between eating and going to the doctors, is that it would be expensive to set up such a system in the first place.
I agree. The current ‘internal market’ neoliberal model isn’t sustainable. It’s time to reverse it.
Yeah its needs privatising, and we need health insurance.
Do other people remember a time when stuff just worked? I mean the NHS has always had its issues but it functioned. Now old people wait twelve hours for ambulances. Train companies are allowed to gouge us while cutting services. Electric and gas are part of some insane fake competitors set up where we get royally screwed. Water companies post record profits and record sewage dumps into seas and rivers. Kids schools are being sold off left and right. All the roads are a mess with potholes. Local council barely functional. Fourty percent cuts to central gov funding they’ve had, since 2010. Disabled people had mobility cars taken off them to save cash. Squaddies are in housing full of mould because the private company the MOD sold all their housing stock to don’t give a shit. How did it get here? To the point where the only point is greed, and fuck you I’ve got mine, fuck the nurses and the rmt? It’s insane. We’re a developed country and our ambulance service doesn’t work. I mean wtf.
The people of England love the fcuking tories. It’s truly depressing knowing working class tories exist.
This is not so coded language for privatisation like the Americans….which is absolute shit.
The money has to be paid by the people of the country somehow, through the tax system is the fairest most efficient system
There we go – they’ve started saying it out loud now. If that doesn’t make you want to vote them out, then you’re either on private already or silly.
They really are a bunch of disgusting fucks.
Even if it’s not working, it’s because of Tory mismanagement and underfunding, so they need to go if they’re incapable of making it work.
In reality, they’re doing it on purpose to make more money for themselves and their buddies.
There is no possible way that introducing profit on top of current costs will make it cheaper. “Efficiency” and “competition” is just corner cutting for more profit.
It’s crisis after crisis with these people and they’re using it as a political tool for their own selfishness whilst people are struggling to eat and turn their heating on.
Disgusting fucks.
Pretty simple … Don’t allow voters who keep voting to make it worse (by voting Tory) to use it.
Wow, with a beard sajid looks a lot less like humpty dumpty from puss in boots
The problem is here he and his party have cut the NHS, wages have fallen and it is now difficult to retain skilled staff.
The second issue is that now the cuts have been made the general public find the hard to undo. So people agree with investing in the NHS but no one can agree how.
And so we end up in this eternal shitshow.
Im a GP and can find not other GP or hospital doctor who feels the current system is sustainable. We need change not more taxation.
We need to move to a part payment/insurance system like in europe where they beat is on almost every outcome.
Their total funding may be higher but at least having part payments, it encourages responsible use of the NHS and healthy lifestyles.
Even labour are saying the same thing. Look up Streetings recent interviews.
Party politics aside, the NHS needs rebuilding from the ground up. Too much middle management and “senior” staff on huge wages doing nothing.
I don’t think chucking money at it will fix the leaks anymore?
But ultimately fuck the Tories for letting it get to this point.
Presume by “current model” he’s referring to over dependence on private contractors and significant underfunding.
Now bend over and take it Britain. Bite the pillow and hum Tory Tory hallelujah.
Ah yes. Underinvest….then say its broken. What a suprise!
The NHS sticks in the Tories throats despite them banging on about how much they support it.
Rich people dont use the NHS, so they dont give a fuck about it.
1 GP can’t treat 300 patients. The population is TOO HIGH and you can’t just snap your fingers and make more GP’s. They need to start a strong PR campaign for people to stop having kids.
It’s not sustainable for the future if you also want to rake off millions to pay to cronies like Michelle Mone.
Fucking bastards. It’s perfectly sustainable. It just means you need to spend taxes on the NHS instead of lining your own pockets.
What a fucking surprise. The nhs has worked for 75 years… the problem here is the tories not the nhs
Sadly I think the NHS is fucked from here on in.
12 years of cuts mean I don’t think the NHS can make a come back.
Waste will be a big issue in the NHS, overly complicated processes and procedures, multiple next-gen IT systems that have all seemed to fail, contracts being given out that make no sense as to why they were signed, the erosion of care in the community, poorly paid workers and failure to retain workers, failure to recruit workers, etc…
However, I don’t think there is any single issue in the NHS you can point to as the main thing holding it back. You can point the the current crop of top Tories though who are all very vocal in their support of privatised health care. It is in their interests both monetarily and ideologically to ensure that the NHS fails so that they can bring in private health care.
These issues haven’t just suddenly appeared overnight. They’ve been well known for at least the last decade, but the Tories have done as little as possible to address them or improve the NHS. Its failure helps them meet their ideological goals. They don’t need to actively sabotage it, they just need to stand back and let it rot.
Doesn’t matter who you vote for, it’s getting privatised.
