There needs to be a way to combat the incentive to simply buy and hold land/property without adding any value. Too many land/derelict property owners seem to just hold onto places and wait for someone else to come along to breath life into the community increasing the value of their investment.
It’s seems to be a struggle to get builders to build accommodation because these land owners are all too happy to sit on their todd, demand crazy prices and wait for someone else who is willing to buy their land and develop it.

Yeah, but then you have to live in Mayo. I’d rather live in a condominium than a condiment!
If they make it mandatory they’ll be able to control where people can and can’t live and make a shit ton of money.
