Deck The halls is a classic English Christmas carol that has become a symbol of Christmas. In the 1960s, a choir of the YMCA of Finland made a Finnish translation of the song called “Kuusen koitin tuoda saamme”. But unlike in the original song, where the hall was decorated with holly branches, they are now replaced by a Christmas tree.

Here’s what the Finnish lyrics mean in English:
– We can bring the Christmas tree home…
Hello, hello dear Christmas!
Let’s dress it up in a festive outfit…
Hello, hello dear Christmas!
– Children’s Christmas carols echo…
Hello dear Christmas!
They give thanks to the ancient celebration…
Hello, hello, hello, hello dear Christmas!
– Now the candles flicker on the fir…
Hello, hello dear Christmas!
Songs play and harps tinkle…
Hello, hello dear Christmas!
– Listen! Listen! For once to us…
Hello dear Christmas!
The grace of the Lord has come…
Hello, hello dear Christmas!
– The Old Year is about to end…
Hello, hello dear Christmas!
Greetings to you New Year…
Hello, hello dear Christmas!
– Let’s now sing together…
Hello, hello dear Christmas!
Let’s rejoice and rejoice…
Hello, hello dear Christmas!
