During my multiple trips to Czech Republic, one of my most memorable things about your country was Malinovka. I am now in the USA seeking asylum, so I can’t leave, and often I miss it. Surprisingly, raspberry soda from ikea tastes exactly the same! Brings memories from Praha and Spindleruv Mlyn

Ah, red colored sugar water with artificial aftertaste. Who wouldn’t love it?
Have you tried Kofola?

very surprising indeed!
Which malinovka did you try? Was it some specific brand? Were you able to taste ZONka?
Shame you did not get to try Žlutá 🙂
I’m not sure if it’ll taste the same if made with US syrup, but I remember making my own Malinovka with sparkling water and raspberry syrup (you need to experiment with different syrups and how much u put in the water tho)… it was my go to drink in summer, tasted exactly like Malinovka
Yes, the Ikea one is pretty similar… In the case of Kofola, I think you have to grow up with it to love it the way Czechs love it. Similar to that black shit that they love in Australia, etc…
Haha it’s literally just raspberry juice / syrup with soda :))
Malinovka can be translated as raspberry soda by this point. So thats why it taste so similar.
Edit: wow, that’s an active thread!
In case anyone cares: other things that became memorable to me about Czech Republic/Praha
1) Trdelniks were very overhyped by instagram, still dread how much money I paid for one only to not be able to finish entire thing due to whip cream and chocolate stuffing
2) Praha is one of the easiest cities to navigate. Within a few days I became pretty aware of my surroundings, and I retained this knowledge for my next trips. It is also very clean compared to some other cities in Europe, *cough-cough* Berlin and Brussels
3) ABSOLUTE BANGER of a song – [Yožhin z Bazin](https://youtu.be/vyFU6qMuigM). Still in my playlist
Greetings from Spindleruv Mlyn!🖖
Jokes on you in these regions everyone is limonáda gang
This was actually sort of a culture shock to me, is Malinovka a thing in the western part of the country, y’all don’t have Brča, žlutá limča or kombajnérka? (They’re all the same thing)
