I thought this post should start here in Norway.Family history from 1751 to 1951.The center kid in the black & white section is my dad.I did edit out the full names and birthdates in that section because they are all still alive.I was always liked the name Viken even though people always said Viking

American here. Norwegians care little to nothing about american’s norwegian heritage. Some will even be offended that you assume they would find your family tree interesting.

Quite an impressive piece of work organizing this. It reminded me of the family tree Don Rosa made for his Scrooge McDuck stories dating back to the McDucks in Scotland and moving to the US and starting families there. Strange to see all those people from all those backgrounds converging and becoming people walking around today.
Loving these old pictures! There’s a Norwegian web site with different historical pictures, might be of interest to you – here are two pics from Skinderviken:

Your hunch was right, Viken is not the same as Viking.
I never knew how to spell “Skinderviken” when growing up. Whenever a family member spoke the name I always heard it was pronounced “Shinnerviken” so thats how I would search many many years ago. I had never seen this family tree until after my grandmothers death and going through her things. It was then, I saw the correct spelling on the family tree that I was now able to correctly search. Then, a few years ago I reached out on Facebook to all Skinderviken’s and found my 3rd cousin in Norway (looks like a younger version of my dad) and said he has the same family tree on his wall. I just thought this was cool. Small world everybody! peace!
edit: sorry I meant to ask. How do you pronounce Skinderviken? thanks all!
Eyyy! We are some sort of cousin! I’m form the same area and my grandmother is from the Røstøe family.
This was very interesting.
