BBC One – Panorama, The Green Energy Scandal Exposed

  1. Private eye was all over this literally a decade ago. What’s taken the mainstream so fucking long to catch up?

Cutting down trees in virginia, processing them into pellets, shipping them to the UK, and burning them at drax ***can emit more CO2 per mW than coal.*** Wood pellets have half the energy density of coal, so they require twice as many trucks, trains, and ships to move around the planet.

But the accounting says ‘nah, it’s renewable, no emissions, wheyhey’.

And, yes, *eventually* a new tree will absorb one tree’s worth of carbon, but the ‘carbon payback time’ between burning the tree (*instantly* releasing all the stored carbon), and the point at which all the carbon is re-absorbed back into a new tree? That is 40-100 years.

This form of ‘renewable energy’ makes climate change **worse** for the critical 20-50 years ahead of us. It is also impossible to scale up because you’d have to burn *everything* in terms of the remaining forests, and devote *way* too much land to growing the fuel.

Biomass power generation – and specificially *this* form of biomass power generation is **complete fucking lunacy**, and practically fraud.

  2. They need to investigate the “carbon neutral” stuff as well

How a new car with lithium batteries, rubber tyres, steel, plastics and fluids can be built “carbon neutral” just defies common sense. It has to be a paid check box.

Same with houses that are sold as “carbon neutral” without any explanation as to whether this is in building it or running it.

Cavemen that hunted animals and cooked over fires weren’t technically carbon neutral

  3. It’s. All. A. Scam.

We’ve already seen the proposed introduction of zoned areas you need a pass to go through in a couple of English towns. Do you really think that will be the end of it?

At the wef carbon credits have already been proposed whereby you get a set number of credits and have to buy more if you want to surpass your allowance. In other words, the elites can buy all the credits they want and jet around to their heart’s content. Us, the idiots, will be told our little break in the sun which we work hard for is too damaging for the planet and can’t continue. The idiots are told to eat bugs and go vegan as it’s better for the environment (let’s laugh at that statement for a moment when you consider the huge carbon emissions used to transport all the vegan foods around the globe), whilst the elites will continue to done out on steak and caviar, laughing at the rest of us lining up and campaigning for more “green” taxes to fund out own demise.

  4. See the train carrying this pulling out of Liverpool docks quite regularly.

Suppose it is better than what they burnt previously, used to import cost dust mined in central America by children before they switched to wood pellets.

Only imported the coal dust after they shut down all the pits, which was why the power station was built there in the first place.

  5. One thing i have always wondered, about 43% of our energy is renewable, largely driven by Solar and wind. When you look at google maps across the UK, there are large fields of solar panel farms and massive wind turbines all over the place, how come this investment hasnt had an eventual impact on bills? they have only ever gone up
