Source? Methodology? This looks like something pulled out of someone’s ass
Poor Germany
if question was actually attack on territory im sure it would all be quite high (65-70%) not some nato war in the middle east etc
By the time hostile armies roll over the Netherlands (be they Russian or improbably German), most Dutchies know it is pointless to resist. It has to do with us thinking of ourselves as a “klein kikkerlandje”. Ugh.. The low German percentage is more surprising but at the same time not too shocking given history and all that.
This is remarkably lower for Estonia than for most such surveys, so I call bs.
An easy statistic in times of peace.
We fought two world wars for a reason. That desire to defend our home has not left. If Russia came marching through tomorrow we’d give em hell for sure.
For the sake of our ancestors and the sake of our descendants.
Defend means that (hopefully) my country was never the aggressor.
While that would make me consider it, I wouldn’t defend my country. There is no point in defending a country doesn’t defend its people’s interests.
My generation has been consistently shit on, with poor wages, told to emigrate and driven away from the city, even though we went through one of the most rigourous school systems in the world.
Fuck this. As soon as someone attacked us, I’m leaving to someplace else where I’m valued properly.
additionally to what others wrote, remember that this was done before the war when there was no real threat for Germany etc.
I’d feel obliged to defend my country on account of the fact that it’s where all my stuff is.
Ja jem kebaba
Post-invasion % for Finland is EVEN higher. Shooting ranges are booked full for months and the reservist training courses are full moments after being posted on calendar. The supply can’t handle the blown up demand.
If someone attacked Italy I would leave the invasors invade us with no opposition lol
This really does get reposted every day
Honestly men might not have a choice. Like it is currently the case on both the russian and ukrainian side.
You might need one heck of an emergency plan + a country that is willing to take you. If you don’t have an additional passport prior to a war that might be difficult
I won’t risk my life defending some arbitrary imaginary lines. I’d just emigrate.
I call BS for 37% in Denmark. Maybe depending on the definition of “defend”! At the moment people think they are part of the war, simply for turning down gas cunsumption
It’s one of those statistic where everyone will say *”no, our politicians are corrupt as hell, I’m not fighting for them”*. But when war comes, it’s another story and literally everyone will go ask how they can contribute.
Remember the days following the invasion on 24th February? Military offices were full of people getting weapons and asking how they could contribute. Remember the pictures of people on streets making Molotov cocktails and making camouflage nets? Yeah? I bet almost everyone before was like *”naaah, I don’t want to join army”*.
🇫🇮 💪
You sure 62% of Ukrainians fight?
So I guess far western Kazakhstan, Turkey, and the Caucasus countries are now part of Europe? 🙄
Yeah I call bullshit. Better explained as a percent that don’t understand the question fully.
Yes us Dutchies don’t really mind. As long as you let us eat bitterbals
If Portugal is coming for us, I’m opening that door wide open…
Turkic Union of Finland and Turkey!
Ważne że lepiej od niemca
ask the same question on their independence day
This sint am accurate map of how likely a population is to defend its country, but it does show that the more insecure a country’s borders are, the more its population will feel the meed to defend it.
Western countries have no enemy around them, while eastern countries have Russia.
This is definetly wrong
Not surprised Germany is dirt low.
I really doubt such numbers are very accurate. Most would fight for their country if forced to do it.
Rather broad definition of Europe if Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia are included.
