The highest in 2 years
Just heard on Today FM news a soundbite from an INMO representative (paraphrasing as I was multi tasking, but this is the gist):
“There seems to be general apathy and a sense of ‘sure what can we do’ among management”
How about starting by firing yourselves, you bloated cunts?

“There were 760 admitted patients waiting for a hospital bed this morning, the highest number since January 2020, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.
INMO General Secretary Phil Ní Sheaghdha said the level of overcrowding is a danger to both patients and staff.
The hospital worst affected is University Hospital Limerick with 92 patients, with 76 waiting for a bed at University College Cork and 49 waiting at St Vincent’s University Hospital in Dublin.
There were also 39 patients waiting for a bed at the three children’s hospitals – 19 at Children’s Health Ireland Crumlin, 15 at the National Children’s Hospital, Tallaght and five at CHI Temple Street.
Today’s figure equals the highest number previously reported on 6 January 2020.
Ms Ní Sheaghdha said the overcrowding was entirely predictable and that “behind these figures are patients who are being stripped of their dignity and privacy while being deemed sick enough to be admitted to hospital.
“We know that more often than not our members are working in conditions that are unsafely staffed, meaning that providing safe care in an overcrowded environment is impossible.”
She called for serious and immediate intervention from Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly”
we can’t fix it over night
After just spending some time in UHL and spent 2 days on a trolly in A&E I must say the care I received there, from thr staff, was outstanding in extremely difficult circumstances.
Thr over crowding is horrific its a fire hazard. I had a family member burst into tears on attempting to bring me I clean clothes etc as there was insufficient room to pass between trolleys.
Going to the bathroom involved 15 -20 trolleys having to be moved out of the way to move a person to a private room to use a bedpan or commode.
It’s disgraceful and nothing will be done till the place goes up on fire and numerous people die because of it.
The staff are wonderful, whoever made the decision to close ennis ans nenagh A&E needs their heads examined
For as long as I remember this has been an issue and yet nothing has been done about it.
