  1. I will defend our solders on the ground to the hilt. Armchair observers who have never faced the danger of being in a war have no right to second guess the rights and wrongs of an individual action. But by all means question the legitimacy of the presence of the UK in the war itself or even the high level of command of an individual action but please leave the solder who is at the Sharp end alone
    Afghanistan is a complex problem with no straight forward answer and it’s so hard to accept that the moment the country was handed back all be it in the most chaotic way the regression of women’s rights began. I would not wish another American British or any other nations solders be deployed in this country yet at the same time feel we have to give the majority sensible population can chance against the terror of the Taliban. Going after a headline event of persecution of a foot solder on the ground only legitimises the Taliban’s position and archives nothing for the people of this country
