My family’s great we just all realize we want to be around each other for about 3 hours max per sitting so we do dinner, watch half a Home Alone or something and then we all go our merry ways.

To be fair I’m in a hotel airport in Toronto reading this, having missed my connecting flight on the 23rd.

Child-free adult. As much as I love fairy lights and all the sparkle, I think, by the time Christmas actually comes around, I’m already sick of it because Christmas stuff has already been everywhere for about two months or so. Most of the magic of Christmas is watching the excitement kids experience in the lead-up to Christmas like when they do all the fun, Christmas stuff in school before they get the holidays and seeing kids open their presents.
That, and outside of my parents, my family are mostly all dickheads who are either the type of people who inhibit every sort of prejudice under the sun or are constantly getting into petty arguments where they end up falling out, then make up after two years, only to fall out again a few weeks later. Rather not spend my time with people who I constantly have to walk on eggshells around or have to bite my tongue because one of my aunties is scandalized that her local GP is Asian or one of my cousins is mouthing off about vaccines, thanks.
I recently got some crap from my father-in-law for checking at my phone, so I showed him this. Imgur, I appreciate you being on point.
How did I end up on Irish Reddit- oh yeah I joined this subreddit once
