On average whites get 2 holidays a year and get more holidays than the average ethnic minority, so we reallocate resources from white to the everybody else. The problem is that they take from the poorest whites go give to other poor groups.
White people being treated as a homogenous group is pretty disgracefull, inequality within the group (white men) is far greater than inequality between groups. Within whites inequality is far greater between “white people” than inequality within any other ethnic group.
On average whites still have the most, it is also the most heailvy scewed group where most opportunity and wealth is concentrsted to hhe fewest people

As someone closely involved in many hiring processes, I can testify that women & minority ethnic individuals *always* receive priority over white men.
It’s the worst kept secret in the industry. I’m really tired of hearing that women have it harder in the employment market, it’s simply untrue. In fact, it’s quite the reverse. I’ve seen companies make hires for women even when they technically didn’t have allocated budget for it – simply because they want more females on the team.
It’s pretty disheartening that this kind of discrimination is so prevalent in 2022 and generally supported by the public/state. Although I feel like this is beginning to change somewhat as awareness grows.
My company has quotas on how many women and diverse candidates it has to hire and actively celebrates when it doesn’t hire white software engineers.
If you don’t think most (especially American companies) also have the same quotas then you’re not paying attention
The police force does say, they will off the best person the job but also that they are under represented in certain minorities. On the other hand the email, if it is there as evidence does show discrimination. It must be almost impossible to keep up with filling a quota of diversity set to them whilst also trying to navigate discrimination laws which apply to everyone regardless of race or gender.

I’d rather we selected them down to physical fitness and intelligence rather than race and gender.
If this only increase the chance for women and minorities to see the advert, and apply, why does it supposedly take women and minorities longer to see job postings? Like the average person is going to see an advert for a job they want at the same speed as the next person.
Like surely if they don’t take longer to see an advert and thus miss the posting, the only reason they should be less represented is either they don’t want to work there, the interview and selection process discriminates against them, or they’re literally a smaller part of the population (in which case their proportion of police staff will also be smaller, this is correct representation, not over or under)
Edit: my point being how can you claim “we don’t get enough applicants from these groups so they need more time to apply” without the reasoning being “less of these groups that want to work on police are here” or “we don’t actually select applicants from those groups”

I applied a long, long time time ago, Northumbria police. Got the standard response. Luckily I knew someone in HR. They told me they hadn’t even read applications from male applicants in that batch, they needed more women. What a waste of time.

The application was very fuzzily worded, but it basically said we will not discriminate, bu religious groups, non-binary, LGBT, minority groups will be given priority for interviewing.
