I’m searching for information about a air base which is hidden inside the Swiss alps. I know this is probably really „geheime“ Information for which I’m asking here but dose anyone know the if this thing really exists, where it is or if it still is in use/ready to be used.

In the internet isn’t much information about it. I only know that a few soldiers have mentioned it on social media.

This is btw every thing I found about it:

  1. Can’t really hide an airbase…
especially in the mountains, the swiss alps are not that big, so the airbases are in Brig and meiringen, but theyre not hidden.

  2. There are certainly some hidden bunkers along places suitable for jets to land and take off in Switzerland.

I mean, that’s what a secret air base is: a place to protect the planes and a strip where they can take off.

Not only Switzerland has them. Just look at Ukraine. They still have flying helicopters and fighter jets. Which is just awesome!

  3. If you think about a batcave filled with some jets, then no. This does not exist, would be far to dangerous to start and land an aircraft in a cave. Also all these “hidden” bases in switzerland aren’t that secret. Every town with a “secret” base has people who know exactly why and where these military vehicles are going.

  4. They meant Meiringen which is the only active airbase with a Cavern, the airfield isn’t “secret”, the internal layout of the Cavern theoretically is.

Also don’t take random media BS at face value, as a matter of fact, always assume they are wrong, especially when talking about Defence matters.

  5. Not true, has 3 weeks of guard duty in one. Jet‘s don‘t need that long of a runway. I can‘t tell you where because no window in transport, but probably isn‘t restricted info.
