My partner is American and I’ve never seen him eat them either. I suspect he just inhales the entire bag in two seconds flat.
They sell them in the US, I promise you Americans are eating them!
They even sell these in supermarkets in remote south-west England.

Har sett en amerikan äta EN giffel. Påsen stod på bordet och vi drack kaffe. När man fråga vad hon tyckte så ryckte hon på axlarna och sa “It’s okay”. Kände hur det koka inombords.
