Vile. If true, they should be tried for manslaughter.
It is hard to believe these claims as being credible. I don’t can’t even get Google Maps to give the right location to my home despite amending it manually myself. Deliveroo and UberEats show the wrong location. I don’t use Facebook but I bet they’d do the same. We have to take these claims with a mountain of salt.
Plus to be in such contact with them during it I can’t help but wonder how involved with the decision to go these relatives were. Did they pressure or help fund the trip? Are they trying to unload their own guilt for helping this happen?
Awful if true. There needs to be an independent investigation (not a Home Office cover up) into the details and the responsible people, French or British, tried for manslaughter.
I saw a Syrian man , elderly, not do young, on news devastated by the loss of his wife and two lovely children. The photos of the family made it very sad for me.
This real sad tragedy apart, what are the policy options? Assuming we don’t want free migration ( most of us don’t want it).
– You can stop helping the migrants, in the hope it will dissuade further attempts if deaths such as this become a regular feature. Its cruel, but an option (not one i support)
– you can let all migrants in and assist them with safe passage ( not many of us want this either).
– you can find ways of limiting entry to genuine refugees , processing to be done in their home countries or off-shore (which is being proposed now).
Its difficult. Very.
I’d be a real shame if the Home Secretary fell off a boat on one of her PR trips and no one helped.
The locals yelling at clouds from the beach, blocking the RNLI boats because they don’t want to rescue the brown “boat people”
Using facebook?
Hell, im lucky if that puts me in the right town.
Jacob Rees-Mogg says fish are ‘happier’ now they’re in British waters.
This conflicts with the initial accounts that they were closer to France, which they seem to corroberate in saying that they began sinking in France 45 minutes before actually capsizing.
I think it’s best to wait to get a better source on this than their accounts regarding facebook live’s geolocation feature, which wasn’t exactly designed for maritime navigation.
I’ve been sailing a lot of my life and that stretch of sea is terribly dangerous. I wouldn’t do it in a dinghy or small boat without a radio, life jackets, flair, experienced sailors, etc. Instead of pointing fingers at whose fault it is, France or England why don’t people get more angry with the trafficers who are making money putting these poor people lives at risk? I feel for the refugees, however it was only a matter of time before someone drowned. Like I would expect from small local sailing boats doing the same journey that often. Something has to change and quickly before anyone else gets hurt. The trafficers need to be stopped and charged with manslaughter.
What’s the source of this report.. before making these emotive accusations can we at least wait until we KNOW not ASSUME what the facts are .
ITT – a bunch of people claiming 27 people drowning is fine because they might not have crossed an arbitrary line in the sea
This article was put out literally a day before this incident, this kinda thing is going to get more common if our government gets their way.
Don’t ever think that the likes of Priti Patel give a single shit about deaths like this as they are promoting them
“The RYA has advised sailors to “stand off and report” migrants rather than rescue them in face of draft laws that would prosecute them if they saved asylum seekers from drowning and brought them ashore.”

A government that is not compassionate towards its citizen cannot be trusted to be compassionated towards non-citizens.
This is a he said, she said and you’re quoting a political site with a strong bias on this issue. I’ll trust the official UK coastguard over that.
And 27 wouldn’t had died if France did a better job with their side of the border, the migrants had to entre France, and then leave it, TWICE France authorities failed, and yet we’re to blame?

Look if France wishes to cede land, so be it but until they do, they’re 100% responsible

Hell, they already KNEW where migrants are staying illegally and yet they do nothing to police Calais.
As part if the interview sessions with them, to make enquiries of how they were contacted to come? “If you answer honestly, it will help with your application to stay” kinda thing? Yes, it must be difficult to be fair. But have you noticed some have been arrested after this boat sunk? So it’s not impossible to route out some of the chain? Need the ATeam or something.
Priti patel uses the video evidence for pornography
> “Officials here confirmed last night that the incident happened well inside French Territorial Waters, so they led on the rescue effort, but [we] deployed a helicopter in support of the search and rescue mission as soon as we were alerted.”
>evolvepolitics.com
The only way to stop this from happening is to give these people easy passage to the UK so we can process them for asylum.
Doing anything else will just mean more pointless deaths.
>’5km into British waters’
>the incident happened well inside French Territorial Waters
So which is it?
It’s all so disturbing. They were human beings, with families and people who cared about them. Who gives a fuck what waters they were in, both France and the UK should have done everything in their powers to save them.
Why come all the way from Kurdish place to UK? There are 10s of countries that accept them.
Why don’t they try seeking asylum in Saudi Arabia?
These are economic refugees who are coming here purely for economic reasons.
Germany, Sweden, France are already reeling under the pressure these people put on the social systems.
UK has imposed austerity on her own citizens, She doesn’t need these “refugees” to add to the list of problems.

Oh well. It’s their own fault. They were already in a safe country.
I don’t want these dangerous people anywhere near the uk. I’m glad people are getting fed up of these leeches.
UK needs to accept remote applications on a quota and do a 3 additional granted applications for 1 returns deal with Italy and Greece to return anyone who crosses the channel illegally in order to make it not worth the risk.
Do people still think that there are traffickers?
The people are in brand new boats with new life jackets and upon arrival are soon welcomed aboard a waiting coach to be taken to the hotel, these coaches and hotels just happened to be available and free , such amazing timing and coincidence .ts with new life jackets and upon arrival are soon welcomed aboard a waiting coach to be taken to the hotel, these coaches and hotels just happened to be available and free, such amazing timing and coincidence.
Some low level seedy trafficker is able to liaise with the Royal Navy and entities that pre book transport and accommodation?
but then its much easier to blame a faceless evil fictional character than to admit that this is entirely put in place and made ready by our Government, the question that I ask is If these people are indeed organised by a group of people that are able to arrange such things on this level then the it might be just as easy to create other ways in that don’t attract attention but its way is selected for a reason is it just to illicit a response/reaction
