During my trip across Portugal I feel in love with the local pastry. Anyone got the names of these marvels?

  1. In the first photo on the left is not a “mil folhas” it’s a “delícia”. There is the normal one like the one in the photo or the chocolate version.

  2. in the first picture on the right bottom I believe that’s “barquinho de ovos moles”. on top it’s “castanhas de ovos moles”. both are typical from Aveiro

second picture left is “bolo de arroz”. nothing special about it and it’s everywhere. and in the right i believe that’s a piece of “Bolo Rei” very common in this time of the year

  3. Worth bearing in mind that some pastries have different names in different areas of the country.

Porto’s mil folhas doesn’t exist in the Algarve. The Algarve’s mil folhas, is called a Napoleão in Porto.

There are more examples like these… this being said, none of those are mil folhas.
