I know Southdoc (providing a similar service) only gets funding based on the number of patients they had in 2019, but the number of patients is up 9% since then, and 17% up from last year.
And because GPs can’t provide same-day appointments people sometimes have to go to those out-of-hours GPs, increasing their workload.
I have used both MiDoc and West Doc and both are great services. It saves sitting in A&E for 7 or 8 hours if you have a sick child during the night. It’s a national disgrace that these services are allowed to close with nothing in place to take over. This will also put extra pressure on hospital A&E’s too.
I’ve been trying to ring them all day and can’t get through.

This is a serious loss, West Doc was on point to help me get an A&E referral this day last year when I went from feeling a bit numb to being unable to walk in the space of 24 hours and couldn’t get through to anyone else. Can’t say enough positive things about the service.
We don’t have a health care system anymore.
So sad. I’ve used middoc and it is a great service.
