Does anyone really care about Christmas No. 1 anymore? BBC measuring it against The Beatles record means virtually nothing because in today’s world it’s not an achievement. The real achievement if anything is what’s done well the entire year, and even then it’s questionable how that’s measured.

But the fact is these two benefit from the need of charities. Their net worth has risen from £71,339 in 2018 to £1.4m in 2021. Not saying that comes solely from their cut of the singles but releasing these singles every year definitely doesn’t hurt promoting them and getting money from other sources like YouTube monetisation.
