German minister wants to decriminalise dumpster diving. To tackle the problem of food waste, German Agriculture Minister Cem Özdemir is looking to decriminalise the practice of rescuing food from rubbish containers, including outside supermarkets, called dumpster diving

  1. I am genuinely surprised from Özdemir actually pushing legislation that benefits the lowest rung of society.

    Greens are being the jewel of the coalition, honestly.

  2. Or, hear me out for a second, set up a system where perfectly edible food doesn’t end up in a dumpster in the first place?

  3. Sure, turn supermarket employees into impromptu social workers (more than they already are) when a mentally ill/drug addict person goes rifling through the waste bins they’re supposed to be using for end of shift cleanup. That’s going to be lovely.

    Seriously though, at a minimum leave it to supermarkets to trespass people.
