There’s no imminent support or immediate Treasury-based crisis that he must attend to ASAP….. so besides trying to score some cheap politicking points, why are they demanding he fly back right now?

Serious question – is the plan to just pump a load of cash for a whole range of hospitality businesses every winter now? Doesn’t seem viable.

The Tories are the party of big businesses who can donate a lot of money or offer them consultancy posts, not small or medium businesses that keep the country running. Sunak would be back in a heartbeat if those small businesses could offer him £10,000 each.
