34 years ago to the day, on December 21, 1988, a Boeing 747 operating Pan Am Flight 103, between London and New York, exploded over the village of Lockerbie in Scotland, after the detonation of a bomb, killing the 243 passengers, 16 crew members and 11 people on the ground. Peace to all the victims.

  1. Was driving north and witnessed this event-had car phone and reported the situation to the media as an obvious plane crash without knowing the seriousness of the the situation. They recorded my call and broadcast it.My experience at the time was traumatic and still can’t quite believe how close I was to this tragedy.-Just one fact;-The explosion was high in the sky and massive, some miles south of Lockerbie and off to the right of my car-this photo shows where part of the forward fusillade came down.

  2. My wife still suffers to this day regarding this, her babysitter at the time and very good friend Flora was killed on this dreadful event .

  3. Had the head-wind component over the Atlantic been 5 knots less, the aircraft would have gone in West of Ireland.

  4. John Lydon and his wife were meant to be on that flight but missed it.

When you see the damage on the ground for only 11 to die there is remarkable
