If 20.000 native hard and softwood were planted you’d need multi year care and attention to see it became a genuine viable woodland. Just sticking saplings in the ground isn’t a plan.
It doesn’t mention exactly what type of trees he planted, but both photos in the article it looks like spruce.
Which means these ares of ‘waste ground” will now just become ecological deserts.
Hopefully, I’m wrong, and it’s native plants.
