€44 worth of groceries at Lidl in The Netherlands (including receipt)

  1. Saw someone else from my country making a post like this a month ago, so I thought I’d give it a try as well. So this is roughly €44 worth of groceries. Bought this at Lidl in a large Dutch city last month. Included the receipt as well, all prices are including VAT (9%/21%).

We do groceries for multiple people in the household. We almost always do this with our bicycles (or walking). This is possible as we have tons of supermarkets in walking distance. Of course shopping at multiple supermarkets we do groceries multiple times per week.

So where are the drinks/dairy? We either had them already or buy them at another supermarket.

Where is the meat? Generally we either buy it at a Turkish (I think) butcher or buy them online. Not happy with the quality and precies of supermarket meat.

We also buy many of our fresh vegetables at a local Turkish supermarket or the farmer’s market. And snacks we generally buy at the main Dutch supermarket (Albert Heijn) instead. We used to make our own bread for years, but for now we have switched to normal supermarket bread again.

Do I find it expensive? Yes, very expensive. Costs for groceries have rissen enormously the past year. But what can we do about that? Still want to buy some nice things though.
