The starting point for sexual assault is a community order, so this isn’t a surprise.
>‘I wouldn’t even do this sort of thing to my boyfriend in public. Ask any Man City fan and they will wholeheartedly agree.

>‘That is not something I would do. He has taken offence at me, he does not like me. I am a respectable mother and a respectable City fan. I would not behave in a way that would make me be less able to see Man City.’
???
I don’t know the law but if a woman did that to me (a man) I:
– Wouldn’t be “upset”
– Wouldn’t think she deserved jail time for a first offence
I can believe he was upset though and don’t mean to invalidate anyone’s feelings. It’s just an interesting realisation that men might feel that way. Also a realisation that I clearly harbour double standards myself as I’d react to this story man on woman in a completely different way if I’m being honest.
if she was sentenced like a man she’d get off scot free 🙂 like 90% of rapists and sexual abusers who are men
If men were sent to jail for a single incidence of groping jails would be full. I don’t think I know a single woman who has never been groped.
Asking for her to be treated like a man would most likely involve the police never having been involved but people would have stepped in and diffused the situation.
> ‘**As a staunch city fan** that is not something I can see myself saying,’ Whiteside told the hearing.

She talks about being a Man City fan the way a disgraced politician talks about being a Christian and a family man.
My first reaction was wondering whether she’d somehow just found out that there were a load of City fans on the jury, but she was at a magistrates court. And the magistrates court was in Bootle, so it’s not even like she could hope that any of the court staff were City fans.
Am I missing something?
I’m surprised this even got this far. SA on men by women is common and doesn’t even register with most people.
