Rome is launching an initiative to allow low income citizens to receive unsold food from supermarkets for free

  1. People will receive a card and be able to receive between 400 and 600 euros worth of unsold food from supermarkets that participate in the project

  2. On national level in Italy.already exist an organisation called “banco alimentare” that recover all food to be discharged by market, restaurant, ships, etc and provide to distribute it to people in need.

    Last year they recovered and distributed 7000 tons of food.

    This sound like a duplicate action moved by political agenda would be easier to support already established and larger organization instead of fragmenting the donations.

  3. I remember being super poor in the US and groceries putting locks on their dumpsters so we couldn’t even eat the stuff they threw away. This is at least a step away from that.
