I saw that Luminus offerd fixed contracts again: [https://www.hln.be/geld/vast-energietarief-terug-mogelijk-bij-luminus-helft-goedkoper-dan-in-september\~abaac917/](https://www.hln.be/geld/vast-energietarief-terug-mogelijk-bij-luminus-helft-goedkoper-dan-in-september~abaac917/)

and my dad also told me to keep an eye on my energy provider.
Any idea if it’s smart to change now? I feel like this is too soon and i should wait for after the winter where the prices would be even lower.

  1. Companies are in it to make money, they would not start offering Fixed contracts again if it wouldn’t make them money.

  2. I don’t trust companies, they are there just to make money, not to please the people. If they offer fixed again, they most likely want to bind a client with higher prices for longer when variable will go down.

  3. Last year in the exact same situation. At that time only a small number of companies offered a fixed rate and these were quite expensive on that day. Took a fixed rate then and was the best decision ever, prices almost trippled at a certain point, so never had the stress of getting huge final bill in the end.

  4. For what it’s worth, their fixed price for gas is much higher now compared to their price for fixed contracts in july (when I signed). If you look at how the price is evolving, that’s a bit silly.

Also, the yearly fixed cost (admin fees) per contract have more than tripled. Another good indication they expect people to abandon this contract early.

  5. My fixed contract got extended in October with a rate that was 5 times higher. Today i had a look at their fixed contracts and changed it to a rate that’s only 2,5 times higher than my rate before October. For gas atleast, the new electricity rates are still higher than my current rate.
