Hey people, happy new year!! i just got this ticket in the morning but i don t understand the situation because i parked in this area for roughly 4 years and never got a ticket. Can somebody explain to me how is this possible? Thank you

  1. Did you forget your parkeerschijf? According to the city’s website, Markt is in a blue zone with a maximum parking time of 3 hours.

  3. If you live there, you probably have a (digital) bewonerskaart. It’s possible that it didn’t renew for this year, or that the person that fined you didn’t have the updated data yet?

  8. Sounds like you were extremely lucky for 4 years. Sint-Katelijne-Waver needs to up their parking validation game.

    Seriously though, I live in a nearby town and even I know to put my disc when I park in ‘downtown’ Katelijne…

  9. The parking management is made by APCOA parking, they apparently made some changes to the way they were handling it? Maybe a change in the contract between the gemeente and APCOA that make it more interesting to them to make more controls? Maybe they hired a new guy and he is doing his job while the previous one was at the café for the whole day?

  13. Zijn de voorwaarden van die boete niet illegaal?

    onmiddellijk te betalen zonder officieel schrijven naar adres met zeer korte betalingstermijn.. dossierkosten vragen bij een boete is ook illegaal tenzij het na aanmaning 2 is, wat een minimum periode van 14 dagen tussen elke herinnering vereist.

    Ook publiekelijk betalingsinformatie weergeven is raar. Die zou ik dus niet betalen tot een eerste bericht op mijn adres komt, en dan ook zonder dossierskosten.

  15. Check if they used the right numberplate. They often put the wrong numberplate just to trick you (this has happened a few times in my neighbourhood) and get some money.

    Was there by any chance a market going on at that time ?
    Mine got towed 2 weeks ago because I parked my car where the market starts in the morning.

  18. So you’re saying you got away with illegal parking for 4 years? Please DO NOT say that in court if you decide to dispute the ticket.

    Edit: Or something changed on 1st of January and you didn’t know

  20. A hint. Do you know that you can park for free for a short time at a lot of parking places where you have to buy a ticket? You just push the green button a couple of times and you will receive a free parking ticket for about 15 or 30 minutes, depending from the location.

  21. sheer luck. Or maybe you have some sort of sticker or item in your car that makes them not want to give you at ticket…. what is it?

  22. It’s not a ticket, it’s an invoice. You’re in an area where you need to pay for parking, if you don’t they invoice you the default amount, which is the maximum amount.

  24. You have a lot of luck, I parked there and forgot my parkeerschijfke once. Went to the pharmacy and got a fine within 2 minutes, and I’m not the only one I know of. That guy always seems to be waiting at the entrance. Seems like he really likes his job. I thought he was always there.
