Elections are coming and they’re doing what they can to appeal to xenophobes and people fixated on some weird idea of vengeance, because basically no one else votes for them. It’s a part of a tactic to win the elections, nothing to see here: we won’t go back to the death penalty anyways because we’re in the UE. The only thing PiS cares about is winning the vote no matter the cost, so we’ll hear many more dumb things they say and nothing will ever come out of it. They’re just dishonourable liars.
Honestly I think most people are pro-death penalty. It’s only concerns around the efficacy of the justice system that prevents us from wanting to see it reimplemented. Just go look at any thread about paedophiles, rapist-murderers and child killers to see what our actual opinions are when we’re not pretending to be better than other people.

Taking into consideration that the base EU treaties abolish the death penalty across member states.
Is that a Polish EU exit announcement? Or are they planning to convince all of EU to adopt it and somehow change all the base treaties of the EU?
Last time I checked, every EU member’s required to NOT have active provisions of capital punishment in their legislature and so by advocating this the premier’s going against the very fabric of EU.

Real reason: this is a decoy to cover up a massive shitstorm about Orlen (largest oil refiner in PL) and how they have been screwing us over artificially inflated fuel prices. They have failed to suppress the shitstorm and this is an attempt to change the subject. Sadly most people are dumb and won’t connect the dots.
