Darren O’Rourke is the quietest SF spokesperson, because he has absolutely nothing to go off, other than a vague climate document that has no substance behind it.
Perhaps it’s a case of “the emissions will take care of themselves”…
I mean, this just kinda sums up SF on anything at all. Either completely clueless or mostly pie in the sky bollocks. Still amazed people see them as a viable alternative in government.
“To help us reach our emission targets we will plant 100,000 money trees!”
Spoofers
Shame we don’t have a viable and legitimate opposition party.
She’ll give the reduction target in 2 years when she’s Taoiseach. Why give the other shower of shits something to use against you.
Matt McCarthy has been flat out campaigning against wind turbines as well. Openly hostile to the environment if there’s a vote in it.
Edit, Matt Carthy obviously, autocorrect.
Oh McDonald…
Must have missed the announcement of a general election, can someone confirm a date? Are all parties being asked to confirm the content of their manifestos?
This is the one thing that makes me not want to vote for them. This headline isn’t new, they’ve been found wanting for years on this. It’s a surprise the FFG crews don’t just keep at them over it, it would carry more weight than constantly talking about their past.
They don’t have any policy in this area at all because it’s unpopular.
It would be nice if the Greens didn’t get slaughtered at the next election. Given that they actually have climate policies and a SF government would probably be a coalition
It’s not this that would prevent me voting for SF. If anything, this is a plus because I’m not mad keen on paying an increasing amount of tax to achieve pointless emissions targets.
As a voter I don’t really care what their green policies are, there are so many more important issues
It’s a wonder she doesn’t just make up a number , like the rest of the clowns
Of course she doesn’t want to give it. A significant cohort of Sinn Fein voters are what would be classed as urban working class. Those people don’t have the luxury of insulation retrofits, expensive electric cars, heat pump upgrades etc. Most measures taken by the Greens are what I deem poverty tax measures – giving people grants to buy a 50k euro electric car. Not really relevant to the traditional Sinn Fein voter.
Whos their potential ministers for the environment?
You do realize that Ireland is a drop in the ocean compared to China / India
Because FFG are doing such an excellent job with climate…
If ireland reduced all emissions, it would have 0.000000001 effect on the world total so who cares. Id be more concerned about their primary school Economic policies and naive open borders policy.
I voted SF last time out, not a major fan of FF/FG and it was a protest vote.
But I think I’m going to leave them off the cards next time round unless they come out with some solid Green policies.
I sincerely sincerely sincerely hope this is because they agree with the current climate plan, but refuse to admit that they agree with anything. This not being clear scares me big time away from voting for them.
It’s SF’s official policy to stay silent on everything – and they are going to breeze into government that way.
I’ll take that over FFG/Greens policy of “engage in a class war against the least well off, to prevent climate change”.
I’m enjoying everyone in Dublin shitting themselves at the prospect of Sinn Fein coming to power and doing everything they can to attack them.
I don’t care one bit about it. Housing and homelessness etc are far more critical. This BS about emissions is the least of people’s worries that work 9 to 5 or 12-hour shifts and still can’t buy a home.
They’re good at planting Easter eggs
Not a chance they’ll discuss this. A lot of Sinn Féin voters are unfortunately thick when it comes to climate science and think its a hoax. It’s not electorally beneficial for them to bring it up, so they won’t. Same way they were fairly quite on vaccines and ignored the hundreds of comments on their social media profiles calling them “gene therapy/child abuse/plandemic/etc…”
If they’re keeping their mouths shut about something, they’re not generating excess CO2 by talking shite, so that’s a minor contribution to the climate crisis.
Ehh, the existing climate policy is farcical with many missed targets, worth a mention in the article.
When asked about pensions Mar Lou’s response was “demographics will take care of themselves”. So no comment is nearly an improvement. It’s just humorous that the excuse they had in august for this was “they didn’t have enough data”. Yet they can be razor specific about the possibilities with housing.

Worse issues than climate change in this country.
This is going to be an unpredictable discussion…
