We just need to build a big nuke and sit on it for years, occaisonally shaking our fist in anger if anyone annoys us. Job done.
Lots of posts today about 50 years in Europe and how it’s only changed Ireland for the better.
Weird that people don’t want to defend it.
We need to lock ourselves further into the EU before SF get into power and start trying to reverse things. It’s clear after 50 years how much we have benefitted from closer EU integration, and we need to ensure that no short-lived government can damage the country by trying to roll back on this integration. Defence will be part of that, and while I would support us joining a defensive alliance as should be part of defending the EU, we can at the very least not interfere with the other members if they want to start forming a closer alliance.
“We’re neutral and we should stay that way!” is something that should sound innocent but is literally only ever brought up by extremely questionable speakers.

Majority don’t want nato but politicians are gonna push it because they want to cut the defence forces even more

Hard paywall.
Defending your borders doesn’t impact neutrality.
There isn’t really a “debate”. There’s a government which wants to force us into Nato and an electorate which is overwhelmingly opposed.
