December was a bumper month due to changes in subsidies from January 2023, IIRC reducing subsidies for hybrids
nonetheless,Sweden has now become the 3rd majority EV market,after Norway and Iceland,and the largest one so far
**also,95% of electricity in Sweden is produced by renewables and nuclear,and Sweden was a net electricity exporter in 2022**
it will be interesting to see which of the large European markets will be first to cross the 50% treshold: UK,France or Germany?
how do people in Sweden who do not own garage and are parking their cars in open parking lots charge their electric cars?

That’s not a good thing. Plugin hybrid EVs can actually be worse for the environment than a equally sized car with just a combustion engine. Plugins are usually heavier, due to the additional engine, battery etc, and therefore use more fuel. They also aren’t charged up as often and diligently. People forget, or are too lazy, because you can always rely the combustion engine if you run out of juice.
Several countries have already scrapped subsidies for plugin hybrid EVs or are thinking about it.
That is only possible because Sweden has so much oil and gas. Oh wait… wrong country.
Plugin hybrids are the worst of both worlds. Same emissions as regular ICE vehicles since the added weight cancels out the minor fuel savings while still taking up charging spots to constantly charge their tiny batteries.
