This is pretty typical of his admin. Contradictions abound. But more importantly if you’re Ukraine you should know the USA public’s heart for war has evaporated. Iraq and Afghanistan proved new age imperialism isn’t going to work.
You know, we have a saying in Italy : ” can che abbaia, non morde”, roughly translated to ” all bark no bite”. If Biden really wants to bite, then he better start showing it’s teeth, otherwise it’s gonna be a curbstomp in a few months…
It looks like we will become again a russian state in the next few month. They won’t leave us alone.
USA will not go to war for European countries. Maybe they would go to war for the Old Europe, but only if estimated that the benefits for them are greater than the damage. History says so.
Foreign policy continues to be the Biden Admins most disappointing quality.

Anyone who thought that Biden would send US forces into Ukraine and risk a direct confrontation with Russia is naive. [The era of spreading democracy is over](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Lcs2g_DOzU). In prior decades, the US would in no uncertain terms give full support to any nation striving to be democratic but since the end of the cold war this was dwindled year by year. The backlash from the conflicts in the ME has simply exacerbated this trend. I think it is no coincidence that democracies in the world have thus started backsliding and most likely will continue to so, even the US has begun backsliding.
Count me in for some US bashing, but the criticisms here are absurd.
“Biden not in a hurry to start WW3”. Well duh!!
This will be a lesson to all countries to never give up their nuclear weapons:
>The US president said he hoped high-level meetings with Russia and at least four major Nato allies to discuss Russia’s concerns would be announced by Friday.
This is a good sign, and while I believe that it’s almost impossible for Russia to get guarantees they’re looking for in writing, if they feel that their concerns are taken seriously it might stave off this march to war.
Russia certainly won’t pull back troops just yet though, they’ll keep their options open.
Did anyone with half a brain actually expected the US to go to war with Russia over a deeply corrupt country like Ukraine?
Biden doesn’t need to send troops to Ukraine ag Russia. US and nato can easily impose sanctions on Russia, which will be enough to contain Putin. Russian economy depends on gas exports, once the exports are suspended, the country wont hold on much. And Europe doesn’t need Russian gas any more cause Iranian gas is on the way to enter European market. Putin won’t dare to invade Ukraine cause it will end his rule.
Can you really blame them?
A lot of people are missing this but if you listen to Biden actually speaking about it he said the US will not send troops unilaterally to Ukraine and that he is meeting with NATO members later.
US troops in Ukraine would be easy target in case of conflict escalation. You don’t project strength from a weak position.
It’s on Europe’s doorstep. They should deal with it.
its always funny to see people who actually think the US would go to war for some random eastern-european country
like, come on
I hope US troops can fight alongside NATO troops in this situation. Ukraine needs material and advisors. Ukraine could use US and NATO satellite data, communication arrays, special ops, helicopters and tanks if possible. It’ll be chaotic but if all the fighting is done inside Ukraine to defend civilians then Russians can’t say Europeans want war. Putin would have to be evil to go all out and kill women and children of Ukraine.
But…but America loves war 🥺
Christmas really is canceled /s
Not enough oil in Ukraine?!
Thank fucking Christ.
Kurds, Afghans, now Ukraine.
Giving up nukes was a mistake. Ukraine and the rest of EE should start their own nuclear programs ASAP. Fear of nuclear response is the only thing that can save smaller nations from invasion by the big guys.
Of course he won’t, he knows Russia won’t invade (anymore) Ukraine. Why would they, it doesn’t make any sense at all. They already have everything they wanted from Ukraine.
Why is everyone here fear mongering
Doesn’t mean the US won’t provide support in terms of arms, missiles and supplies. The US is not going to fight their war from them and what we’ve seen in the last few months is that the US does not want to police the European situation anymore. The submarine spat with France and Australia has shown us that instead of getting closer with its European allies the US has turned its attention to the anglosphere nations and their military union. It’s now more focused on Asia and China with its allies Australia, UK, NZ and Canada. Europe is more than capable of defending itself. It needs to pick its shut up and form an army. The US can’t do everything itself and from what we’ve seen in Afghanistan it’s tired of fighting others wars.
Why should we send troops when we can send equipment. Ukraine isn’t lacking people. They need high-end hardware more than people. One soldier with 5 javelins with a good understanding of terrain can destroy 5 Russian high-end tanks.
