Hi guys! Im in Budapest and the apartment I’m staying in has this gas heater (I’ve Googled it -Feg F8). I know how to turn it on and off, but my question is: how long should it be turned on? Can It stay turned on overnight?

  1. It can stay on all day everyday just fine 👌

Be aware: it could make some disturbing noise during the night because of cooling down.

Also, please vent your home every now and then.

  2. It’s a rather simple gas burning chamber, there must be a gas flow control knob behind the front panel but you can’t control the temperature directly, so the worst thing that will happen its overheating the room.
Fun fact: FEG is hungarian abbreviation for Arms and Gasheating Devices company existed here in socialism era and yes, they mainly produced firearms.

  3. This is a convection gas heater, with closed combustion chamber. The thermostat is controlled via the brass capillary tube at the back side. Normally the machine is turned on when the heating season is started. The burner is regulated automatically, a distinctive click noise signals the start of the heating and the same clicking noise stops the big burner. Level 3-4 is enough for most apartments. 4-5 is for bigger rooms. 4 is 20 degrees Celsius roughly. It should turn off around 23 than turn back on at like 19.

If the unit does not want to turn off, there could be an issue with the regulator valve. Sometimes the clicking noise does not happen due to wear and tear.

Also please check the transparent window is In place or not before the idle flame. If it not, I don’t recommend running the heater without ventilation. And seek for a professional asap.

  4. Many deaths occur from these locally called “konvektor” devices, watch out esp for older models. Get a very high quality CO detector in the space where you operate it.

  5. I have egy hónapja törn on my sokkal bigger villany heater lófsz, és i dont nincs problémám whit vele… my payment iz nát sok, but i have 20 fok a nagyszobában
