Croatia in throes of euro price hikes

  1. It’s not actually that bad, and it’s normal for what it is. Takes a while to adjust.

Everyone went thru it, nothing new, we were told to prepare.

What we need is a universal paycheck raised.

  2. The only country that seems to benefit from the Euro is Germany. Ironic since the Euro was designed to keep them down.

  3. I said to myself last week that I’m looking forward to visiting Croatia for the first time this year but I’ll have to wait a few months for the euro to “settle” first. Prices will definitely fluctuate upwards for a while but will settle once people agree what’s right and wrong. Same happened in Ireland in 2002 – I know people who still say everything got expensive from then but it’s perception not reality.

It’ll be fine – give it a few months. And welcome to the EMU.

  4. this is what happens everywhere. vendors try to use the opportunity and earn as much as possible and hike up the prices, same story in baltics, same story everywhere

  5. It happened everywhere in EVERY country, now they act surprised?

Look at Greece, they got devastated by the price hikes back in early 2000s

  6. Exactly the same happened in Finland 21 years ago. Many businesses just took advantage of the fact that huge numbers of people didn’t immediately understand they were getting fleeced.

I haven’t seen any evidence that changing the currency itself increased prices in the long term, but the first few days and weeks were absolutely one massive fucking highway robbery committed by vendors.

  7. Lol, I said this would happen just weeks ago and had the americtards and europeans telling me I’m nothing but a right wing shill lol
