Not sure what can be said about this without access to any of the main facts. This could, conceivably, be somebody (for whatever reason) aborting a (Edited: 25) week fetus or killing a viable baby at 8 months.

Yeah, we really need to update these fucking laws that *checks notes*.. Imprisons you for seven years for marrying another person while your divorcee is still alive.

From the article, the reasons they were arrested were:
* Procuring poisonous substances with the intent to induce a miscarriage
* Aborting your own pregnancy
* Concealing the birth of a baby
* Disposing of the body of a baby
So, in essence, if you’re going to abort your pregnancy, it must be done by a doctor and you can’t just do it yourself. In the event of miscarriage, you have to report it and if you actively try to conceal that fact, you’re breaking the law.
Woman poisons herself because she’s desperate and unable to get professional help to remove an unwanted foetus from her body…
State decides to punish her with imprisonment for it.

Be interesting to see what sentence they get compared to something like a drink driving death. Also wonder how did they not do it pre-24 weeks? Did they just change their mind after all that time? Was there some other problem pre-24 weeks?
