Health secretary blames flu and COVID for NHS crisis as pressure mounts on government to act

  1. What an absolute prick. He knows that’s not true, he knows exactly what’s wrong and he knows his shitty government will never do anything about it. How he sleeps at night knowing that everyday he makes the world a worse place is astounding.

  2. So, after 12 years of conservative government the health service is unable to cope with seasonal illness.

You didn’t put that on the side of a bus.

  3. Strange coincidence about the refusal for 15% pay rises and the current ‘crisis’.

  4. There is not just one problem. Please stop trying to pin the blame on on thing. This is a culmination of multiple problems and gaps in the service. Is flu and COVID a contributor, absolutely; it’s not the only factor though.

  5. The party of personal responsibility once again shirks any form of responsibility

It’s just one never ending shower of shite gaslighting

  6. I wrote this response in another Sub earlier today, but it bears repeating…

The first thing the current government needs to do to help save the NHS is change its entire political ideology.

The ugly truth is that the Conservatives don’t like the NHS. They’d much sooner put healthcare in its entirety into the hands of the private sector. That’s why this current deliberate strategy of managed decline in the NHS by the government is going unchallenged by Conservative backbenchers. It’s exactly what they want.

They don’t care that the hardest hit by a private model of healthcare delivery would be the vulnerable and poor. Those groups aren’t part of the Conservative demographic. They aren’t “wealth creators”, so don’t matter to them.

This is a deliberate strategy. Just look at how many senior Conservatives have invested in private healthcare companies. The rich are once again going to get richer, while the poor and vulnerable suffer.

    They are amoral chancers.

    We need a new government.

  7. It’s definitely an issue but it is ridiculous to blame it all on one specific issue. Hospitalisations for the flu, COVID and RSV are up; that is not really up for debate. That does not change the fact that a complete lack of social care is making discharging healthy patients very difficult, that both the NHS and social care have over 100,000 unfilled vacancies each, that we are dealing with the post-COVID backlog, that healthcare funding has been inadequate for over a decade, and so many other issues that have contributed to this. He is the Health Secretary and knows all this, he just wants a scapegoat that cannot be blamed on him.

  8. So, if we actually came under attack from Putin or whoever else, what would this shithead government actually do for us citizens?

What is the point of them

  9. so, what he is saying is that our health service is fine and can cope as long as no one gets sick?

Are the police doing a great job as long as no one commits any crime?

The fire brigade can stop fires as long as no one sets them?

The army can totally defend the borders….as long as no one invades?

  10. I think 12 years of so called “ring fencing” and destruction by Jeremy hunt of the nhs, courting American health companies and making sure the nhs fails is the problem here pal…… gaslighting fuck

Oh and look who is in charge of all the money now. The one who took no responsibility for the destruction of nhs services…… Jeremy Hunt
