Brit here. Had a good laugh at this. Basically if your British it’s three shots but if your Irish it two.

  1. Whats so funny?

    >In Ireland a standard drink has about 10 grams of pure alcohol. In the UK a standard drink, also called a unit of alcohol, has about 8 grams of pure alcohol.

It’s just how the NHS classifies a unit verses how the HSE does.

Do you laugh at how your pints and US pints are different?

  2. Aye man, when I was over in Salou, I basically shut down the store guffawing when the flipflops that fit me were a size 42. Comedy gold.

  3. To calculate units which is the UK measuring system, the formula is the volume x the abv so a 500ml can of 5% lager is 2.5 units. In Ireland, we use standard drinks so it’s the volume x the abv x .0789 so that can of lager is 1.97 standard drinks.

UK weekly guidelines are a max of 14 units a week for both men and women, while in Ireland it’s 17 SDs and 11 for women. Both are meant to spread out over several days in the week.

  4. Who the fuck has a shot of cider ?? You drink that shit by the pint ,or ltr or btl ,but you never have a shot ffs 🤣🤣🤣

  5. One time at my friends house I just assumed his shot glass was the standard 35ml, and I always measure my drinks so I know exactly what I’m drinking.

Few drinks in I was really feeling it and was also alarmed to see half the bottle of vodka was already gone, turned out it was a 50ml shot glass, and I was basically drinking triples instead of doubles.

  6. Lived in spain and they would basically pour spirits till you said stop or no more could go in the glass…….Cuba Libre!!!!!
