So, eh, this immersion is switch is on right? If so it’s been on for the last week. The light doesn’t work either way. Can I just disconnect it?

  1. More context, had family over for Xmas. One of them told me they hit something by accident under the stairs. Didn’t think anything of it at the time. Have just noticed today that switch looks to be in the on position. We have never used it to heat the water (intentionally at least), we use the gas heating instead. Can I just disconnect it from the immersion or would that cause a problem?

Edit, so the comments are saying it’s off. That’s obviously the best outcome.

I have used a switch before, I swear.

And thank you everyone for the replies. All mocking and abuse is fully warranted.

  2. Switch should be depressed at the setting you want in this case its set to off…..another good indicator is hot water

  3. I’m no switch-scientist, but I believe that switch is in the off position.

OP, where are you from that you don’t have switches? They are all the same.

  4. On the timer below, there’s a sliding switch with 3x positions OFF, TIMER, ON. Set it to ON for the moment then download instructions for the timer

  5. The timer has all the little switches set to off. Pull some so they stick out then the hot water will come on for those times. And the big switch on your photo is off so press that down first!

  6. Sink is selected and is off, bottom in on the left swith means its on……

Whatever in on the right is whats heated….

  7. This immersion is definitely switched off! You can relax. The large switch marked On / Off being at the off position turns off all the power to the heater. The other switch just selects between a longer (bath) and shorter (sink) element.

You’d want to put the screws back in tho!

  8. It’s defintely off..but wondering is timer below controlling it?

Maybe it should be always on and timer below controls when and how long it is on for?

  9. Just one thing also. Some of those type of switch only work using the timer switch which is the circle device below. Maybe check by pushing out the white slats and see what happened when it passes by the on arrow

  10. Turn the sliding timer switch to the on position. The switch immersion “on” switch on the left to on position. The light should come on. The timer controls the top immersion. The time switch can be programmed by pushing down the little levers on the clock

  11. It’s off. If you flick the switch to ON then it will heat a small amount of water for (sink) if you flick the switch to bath it will heat ALL the water in the tank. The clock below it will help to time your hot water supply to come on when you need it. If that is set then on/off switch should be on all the time. Sometimes there is a ‘booster’ switch too. If you flick that on it heats water even when you have it set on the timer.
