Labour MP shares list of 20 alleged ‘sex pests’ on WhatsApp

  1. NGL, its hard to really understand the seriousness of the allegation without looking at the list.

For example, if the “one Tory MP yet to be accused of anything” is the same Tory MP currently anonymously banned from attending Parliament since May by his own Whip – then its kinda a non story if the full list is previously known.

The idea she can make a list of 20 people, and there’s only one we didn’t really know about is concerning.

  2. Isn’t this literally how women protect other women? A lot of the commenters here sound like they’re not coming from a place of experience, as in they aren’t girls/women who’ve had other girls telling them to ‘be careful’ around certain blokes

  3. Why are people angry about this? Like she’s just warning colleagues about people who might hurt them? How are the potential predators the victims here wtf

  4. Like others I’m not surprised there is a list. I am even less surprised that 19 of them are clearly known offenders. I am surprised she was daft enough to write it down. If almost all the names are in the public domain already it’s trivial to simply remember them and pass them on verbally. “Quick head’s up mate, look up MP + sex offender online when you get a chance. Oh and so-and-so – but it wasn’t me that told you, alright?”

  5. This claim that she couldn’t legal make a third party report about things “I’ve seen, experienced or been told about that many times”, sounds like utter BS to me. What law prevents her reporting this to the authorities but doesn’t stop her posting a list?

  6. Usually, when commenting on Reddit posts, I take the time to think of a concise and informative way of putting my point across, however in this instance I only have one word to say. ‘SLAY’

  7. I am baffled by the people suggesting “the proper channels should be exhausted first”. Do you seriously think they haven’t been? And even if they were, do you seriously expect them to work? In recent times, when have people in positions of power like MPs seen punishment comparable to their crime? They get a minor slap on the wrist, if anything at all. “We’ve done an internal investigation into ourselves and we’ve decided we’ve done nothing wrong.”
And I find it hard to believe these are just wild accusations being thrown around. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. That’s why a list can be compiled in the first place.

  8. I assume everyone here would show the same outrage when their mate shares an “x footballer is a nonce” post in their group chat?

  9. Like it or not these are the kinds of decisions people make everyday. As a woman in any social group I’ve made a point of avoiding certain acquaintances especially in situations where I’m drinking because I’ve heard things or witnessed them myself. I don’t say anything to them, but I try to protect myself the best I can. Imagine how it would feel if you were assaulted by someone that everyone around you knew was a problem, but none of them bothered to warn you because they didn’t want to overstep. Even if you put a stop to the sharing of written lists the informal sharing of knowledge about potential sex pests is going to continue out of necessity.

  10. Only twenty? She is not even trying. There were forty on May’s “Dirty Dossier” alone six years back. (Boris was number six).
