‘Hate’ is a strong word. He’s just a feckin eejit.
The 2020 election results would suggest otherwise Eamon
Hate is a strong word. A pure deluded clown but not hate
So he really is that delusional!
I think most people don’t take him seriously enough to hate him.
Guess again Eamonn
50% of that statement might be right.
I live in “rural” Ireland. By rural, I mean 5km from a commuter town. I will never vote for a green candidate. The reason for it being I think they have no concept of how people live outside Dublin.

Whilst he may not hate them Id imagine they definitley hate him

I know a few people that would strongly disagree with that statement….
I don’t hate them, I even know some people who live in the countryside.
I’m not a fan of Eamon Ryan, but that article is such an odd piece. The title is also childish journalism imo.
He basically took jabs at Haely-Rae and his use of TikTok as a means of discrediting/slagging him (Eamon). He didn’t even mention the quoted article headline. He was asked if he hated rural ireland, or rural ireland hated him and he simply answer “Sure don’t”.
Just an odd article altogether. Even for an oddball like Eamon Ryan.
Working in agri retail and ya, he is mentioned at least five times a day, obviously when people are buying smokeless coal. They’re not pleased about it. You usually get a rant out of at least one person on a list of other initiatives, cycle lanes, turf etc. You get the jist.
He sure acts like he hates us, and we wouldn’t be awful fond of him the bollix.
“Many of my friends are aware of the country”.
Transport only accounts for 9% of emissions but he is totally obsessed with it (wants 1 in 3 cars gone in next 7 years). It is the most fundamental issue for rural people but every single policy he comes up with obviously never even considered them for 1 second. I don’t think he is stupid enough not to consider their needs as he is a smart guy, so its obviously apathy or hatred.
No one hates him, they just think he’s a bit of gombeen that lives in a bubble removed from most people’s reality
Pretty sure they do Eamon
Probably the most out of touch politician in government at the moment
I’m a farmer, I know a lot of farmers and people who live in rural Ireland, we all hate him
He’s either lying or is really ignorant about how people in rural Ireland feel about him and his party. When I leave Dublin and go down home to my large town that is surrounded by countryside he is BY FAR the politician that gets brought up the most and receives a ridiculous amount of vitriol. It’s so bizarre because I don’t even understand what he has done that is so offensive to non-city dwellers.
I live in rural Ireland, I don’t hate him. Think he’s a clueless embarrassment with no shame and killing the green party? Yes! But hate, no!
The Greens have earned a reputation in my book for banning things without providing alternatives, moralising about people’s lifestyles without presenting alternatives, and for not caring about poor people. It just so happens that this disproportionately affects rural people, the Green voter in their 221 electric car driving up and down to their job in RTE doesn’t have much in common with a sheep farmer who is barely scraping by.
Personally I think there’s an open door for a party like FF to take a leaf out of the German Greens and become a party known for strong but realistic Green policies, and bring rural (and poorer) Ireland with them. The Green party itself will be tossed out at the next election.
I don’t hate him or the ideas behind the green party. But not factoring in good solutions as part of the policies you bring in is boneheaded. I’d love an electric car but they’re well out of my budget and the nearest public charger is a half hour away.
Incentivise and convince, is all I’m saying.
> He said he is respectful in his approach “because, if you’re not respectful to them, then you are not respectful of the people who voted for them”.
There’s plenty of things I really don’t like about Eamon Ryan and the Greens.
But I like and respect his approach here. I wish more politicians had this attitude.
He’s in for a rude awakening, the Greens will be wiped out in rural Ireland next time
No we actually do hate him
We hate you Éamon Ryan.
Well maybe not hate, but he is definitely laughed at here in Mayo. Especially with his bike he cycles on to the Dáil and the two cars that follow him (1 for his TD shite and the other for the bike) and him talking down to us. Never seen a bigger leibide in my life.
Like, Mayo is massive. We cannot get anywhere by walking or cycling. My Aunt lives in a valley called Gleanamara. This place is closed off for the Winter by snow. In Summer it takes about 3 hours to cycle to the nearest town with a shop. Without turf, she’d die in the winter because oil does not last.
I myself a bike would take me to town in 5 minutes, but there’s people in Mayo who live in the absolute middle of nowhere that is not accessible by an oil truck in winter, and without turf or timber. They’d freeze to death.
The West of Ireland is much more cuntish to live in then Dublin. We can’t run to the shop and buy power for out apartments. We or at least the older people will die in winter without fuel.
Is this peak delusion?
you see, its stuff like this that makes me genuinely wonder what is going in eamons head. he is not popular in rural ireland, he is probably one of the most hated politicians here, ask any rural person do they like ryan and 90% of them will say they hate him.
The Greens are in for a serious reality check in the next election!
Oh they do Eamon, they do.
99% of Irish people hate the sleepy little pr1ck
We kind of do hate him. It’s one of the things we have in common with city folk.
Ryan dropping some raw truths on farmers. Everyone bitches about him but then also bitches about spoofing, double-talking politicians. You can’t have it both ways.
Backed himself so far into a corner he has to deny hating (and being hated by) an entire section of Irish society.
Everyone hates you
If you’re reduced to saying a line like this…
Oh boi he hasn’t q clue whats he’s on about.
What a clueless specky cunt.
Yes you do.
Yes they do.
The Green Party are lost in their upper middle class ideals without any concept of reality. I know a GP TD and councillor and they love pontificating but then fuck off on mad holidays a couple of times a year that would cause enough pollution to cover quiet a few peoples car journeys a year. They are full of expensive ideas that are no use to anyone but the top 5% we need a Green Party but we need a practical Green Party and we need the one we currently have to be wiped out of existence.
Talk about being totally disconnected from reality..

I think he’s a greenwashing asshole.
