  1. That’s a 1 with 8 zeros after it.

    €100,000,000.

    For a 5km cycle track.

How much did the original boardwalks cost?

  2. I love how estimates come out with such nice, round numbers.

I remember hearing a Spar where I live was painted and it supposedly cost €40,000 and I remember thinking “that’s a nice round number” but also, “”I’d paint the fuckin thing on my own for €5k”

  3. Was this not one of those projects designed to keep drivers happy?

It will be much cheaper to just redesign the current road and reallocate road space.

  4. Great so, we can continue to have a car dominated freeway thundering along the both sides of quays with little space for pedestrians or cyclists.

  5. We need to take space away from cars on the quays if we want to improve public transport and promote safe active travel, not continue to accomodate them

  6. The problem as I see it, is the Liffey. Re-direct the Liffey way back at leixlip before it hits the city. Fill it in(preferably with junkies and scumbags that cause so much trouble in the city). Now we have lots of width and miles of space for multiple lanes. We can have separate luas, cycle, walking, driving lanes.
In fact do the same with the grand canal, its a nightmare on a busy day. Modern problems require modern solutions.

  7. This and the childrens hospital are just clear signs the FF style government cartels are still in full effect. How the papers don’t name and shame the developers and bureaucrats who waste millions in government money looking for the worst candidates is beyond me.

  8. Oh well suppose we’ll have to go with the alternative of a suspended kayak pool all the way down to some sort of central kayak station in the IFSC.

  9. They can save a fortune if they just get one of the AI art bots to design it in the style of Salvador Dali like the current quays cycle way into the city.
