  1. An aspect of the AUKUS crisis that most people missed is that it destroyed an emerging triad in the Indian Ocean. France, India and Australia were building a trilateral cooperation to share ports (in Réunion for example), weapons, data, experience. All this was supposed to counter China and its growing influence from Sri Lanka to Djibouti. What we are reading now is about the leftover of that initiative, with Australia’s commitment withdrawn.

  2. From the article

    >India is looking not only for 100 per transfer of technology for making aircraft engines to power its indigenous twin engine fighter but also designing and development of next generation high powered military and civilian engines for future fighter and transport platforms. Already Tata group has tied up with Airbus to manufacture C295 tactical transport aircraft in Vadodara in Gujarat. This line is going to be expanded into other civilian and military aircraft manufacturing in a joint venture with France.

I doubt if France agrees to technology & design transfer for fighter jets and subs with India. I think France will probably agree for assembly base of operations in India, with some local sourcing for non-critical spares.
