Can confirm. All norwegians are cheese in disguise.
This is how we greet eachother in Norway.
Usually we repeat it a couple of times, like you can repeat “hei” to “heihei!” “Jeg er osten, jeg er osten”.
It really means I am glad to see you, based on the fact that cheese is a comfort food that makes you happy.
In Finnish you can actually call someone cheese as an insult. Probably closest synonym would be calling someone dense.
This is why I laugh at people who say they’re gonna learn a language before they move to another country.
Tipper teksten begynner noe sånt som, “jeg er osten, jeg har blåmugg på”.
My wife came across this in her Duolingo journey, I haven’t yet. But this has been a running joke in our house since. At least we all know how to proclaim ourselves the cheese?
Duolingo has some straaaange phrases, that’s for sure. I remember one: “Ulven spiser undertøyet mitt” 😁
Just wait until it learns you “the bear is riding a bike” and “Machines are taking over the world”🙃

Hvis man kan synge [jeg er havren](http://staverloekk.no/jostein/sanger/havren.html) kan man vel si jeg er osten?
