Brexit trade minister begs US to ‘awaken to Brexit opportunity’

  1. By which I’m guessing they mean the opportunity to exploit a country that’s shat the bed and is out of options

  2. Perhaps it’s not the great deal they thought it was.

What they seem to forget is that the USA will only make a deal if it is in their interest – doing us a favor does not meet that criteria.

  3. I’m not exactly sure what a small island off the coast of the largest trading bloc in the world could offer the USA. Does said country have unique skills and assets that others don’t? The likes of Japan, Taiwan and Singapore all offer unique attributes surrounding, larger nations don’t. Until Britain offers some utility that can’t be gotten from the EU then the country isn’t important other than from periodic sound bites that don’t really provide growth or investment.

  4. >a best in class deal on agriculture? Think you will get that from the EU?

90% sure the point of a negotiation isn’t to give the counterparty the best deal…

    This just reeks of desperation.
