Why do we need new restrictions if hospitalizations are still dropping?
Load of bollox. They have enough boosters stocked up to give everyone one by appointment who wants one but they’re going down the ages because they know young people aren’t going to take them. Waiting for the latest restrictions that invalidates your cert until you get a booster. Fun times ahead. Natural immunity ftw

Feel like the govt. is just waiting until Christmas is over to put in restrictions because affecting the build-up/shopping season will cause a big backlash from businesses.

I have plans set and all, so would be disappointed, but every sign is that Christmas is going to be a clusterfuck just like last year, followed by a wave of mass deaths – so I hope it’s cancelled, and cancelled _early_…
Don’t want plans/expectations to reach a more advanced stage, only for the fuckers to hum and haw on cancelling it just before – or worse, implementing restrictions while loads are away from home _during_ the holiday.
It really isn’t a big deal to just fucking wait a month and see.

I find this absurd and restrictions aren’t even being enforced. I have flown a few times and never once was checked for passenger locator form entering Ireland. I got tested while abroad due to the new regulation and again I wasn’t checked for it.
It’s mind boggling how inconsistent it all is and the incompetence.
Gap between booster to be cut to 3 months? Does this mean we have to get 4 boosters every year. Or is this gap just for 1 booster after the 2 doses.
They could afford not to dial it back if boosters are widely taken up, but we have a while to go in terms of just rescaling up the MVCs. >40s probably from 26/27th onwards, and 30s a week and a bit after. 20s in early Jan plus younger children. Allow a week for the booster to have a notable effect. To top it all off, we will probably need long-term variant-specific vaccines later in the year.
Oh new restrictions, oh thank god – I was worried there for a sec that all those granny killers have forgot about the two ~~weeks~~ years to flatten the curve.
