How can they possibly work harder? What does this asshole expect them to do?
After everything they’ve done for the last 3 years? Fuck this guy!
Ok let’s do that with your whole party too. Let’s pay you on deliverables and attendance.
Parroting the opinions of most Tory voters I’d imagine.
It’s such a bullshit statement. My ex was a nurse. The amount of unpaid hours she worked was fucking insane. Then the weeks where she was too busy to go for a break so no food all day.
Productivity is such a bullshit measurement.its also ironic coming from a fucking MP on 84k a year for doing little more than talking endless amounts of shit. Work fucking harder the man wouldn’t know hard work if it bit him on the arse.
I bet this cheeky bastard doesn’t work half as hard as the NHS staff he’s lecturing, but that doesn’t seem to have stopped him and other MPs collecting a 28% payrise since 2010. Solidarity with the NHS and all striking workers across the UK.
After working 43 days in a row, often 12 hour days to get 379 schools across 3 countries online during the spring of 2022, I asked my boss for a pay raise. This was the response I got.
Ever since then I’ve spent a decent amount of my work week simply recording in detail what I do every day, in anticipation of being asked this by another boss.
Try working harder when your ICU patient has no blood pressure, a lactate of 15, your hemofiltration machine is playing up, inotropes are going faster than you can prepare them and a grieving family looking at you to save their loved ones life
Right. Im off to stack shelves in Aldi. Fuck this cunt
So the Tory idiots turn up to this “negotiation” with a ban on public protest, ban on strikes and even though you are working way more than your contracted hours we want more productivity? Doesn’t look like that expensive public school education did much more than turn them into elitist assholes.
Since the tories have been in power, he’s not worked any harder but still got his pay rise.
Utter cunt. Why the fuck doesn’t this turd have to work harder to justify his pay and position. Get these, dodgy, lazy, dead from the neck up, utter weapons out of government.
The Twitter account of Visit Blackpool, temporarily rebranded Do Not Visit Blackpool, was typical: “It’s the last hurrah for #ClapForCarers tonight so let’s give an extra loud clap! Thank you to our NHS and key workers for their dedication.”
It made for a particularly emotional moment, as applause and cheers again swelled above the nation’s streets, and health workers gathered once more to embrace and acknowledge the nation’s thanks. North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust marked the occasion by posting a video of some of its staff applauding. “Tonight is the final #ClapforCarers – and we wanted to give YOU a round of applause as we clap for the country.”
In truth, of course, “the clap” has been highly political from its first incarnation, when Rishi Sunak and Boris Johnson emerged from their Downing Street front doors to clap in front of the assembled camera crews, even as the medics they were thanking warned of the terrifying crisis hurtling towards them.
….In the Mirror newspaper on 20 January 2021: “52,000 NHS staff are off sick with covid.” [1] Over 850 UK healthcare workers are thought to have died of covid between March and December 2020;….
“IF THESE POOR PLEBS WITH FULL TIME JOBS WANT TO MAKE ENOUGH MONEY TO SURVIVE, THEY SHOULD SIMPLY WORK HARDER”
– Man who earns 7 times as much as a nurse and works significantly less.
This is what happens when you continue to go the extra mile. It becomes an expected part of your performance.
There is no more give Steve, but you know that.
Sorry public, you are basically living in a country with a non-safe emergency service and a near non existent elective service.
Man, this list of Tory MPs that deserve to be punched in the balls is long and growing…
They need to change the job title from “Health Secretary” to “shameless apologist for the unconscionable”. Every single one in the last twelve years basically shook hands with the devil and sold their soul for a sniff at the arse cheeks of power.
They literally cannot work any harder they are at breaking point you twat, christ they have zero clue what is happening inside the NHS
This shows how far removed from reality these bastards get them out
Fuck this prick, his semantics & his pathetic excuses.
The trick is to only save patients that can be helped quickly and leave everyone else to die!
Productivity goes up! You have succeeded in Tory Britain.
How is that even possible to quantify? Just talking nonsense as usual
Lol how incompetent they can be.
I understand barclay has no say regarding pay anyway, its all decided by sunak and hunt. But he could have said something like: nhs staff have been working tremendously hard esp for the past pandemic, we thank them for everything we can. However due to the current economic climate it is not in our hand to provide a pay rise now. Once inflation has been settled and economy has improved, we can discuss it again.
But instead, he went beast mode: you need to produce more for a pay rise.
Let’s, for the sake of argument, say that they haven’t worked harder. Let’s say their output hasn’t changed for the past decade.
Where were the pay rises that matched inflation over that time?
NHS staff strike to your hearts content just to spite this asshat.
For clarity:
Due to the NHS shortages our staff are already doing the job of 2-3 people more than they should be doing.
If they want to make the “you get paid for your productivity argument” then all NHS staff should immediately stop doing extra work and start doing what they actually get paid for.
The system would crumble in 24 hours if that were to happen.
This is exactly why I despise this argument of “if you want more money then we want more productivity” because we are ALREADY increasing productivity over the last 12 years beyond what’s expected due to poor staffing and shit pay.
Fuck off Barclay.
This is all about limiting expectations and setting a tone for any upcoming negotiations. Truth be told, I think the government are shitting themselves having to deal with several large unions with formidable negotiators as they haven’t had to do anything like this in their 12 years in charge. Think about the calibre of politician in the ministerial positions now, would any of them have the nous, intellectual capacity and fortitude to successfully engage with embittered opposition? Nah.
My boss in the NHS is on £125,000 and his is on double that . They are both dead set on privatisation and no doubt getting brown envelopes from contractors . Vultures picking the bones of the NHS
People need to realise Barclay is playing on a different level here. Their goal is the privatisation of the NHS. These statements are about building a narrative of a wasteful state-run health service full of lazy striking staff. It’s so they can say things like ‘we offered an increase in pay if they would do more work, and they refused’. It doesn’t matter that the staff can’t possibly do more and the kind of increase they’re likely to offer is just a real-terms pay cut. What matters is being able to build the propaganda they need to tear it all down.
