The person who highlighted these concerns was a zoo keeper and now runs an wild animal rehab. They’re very well informed. Dublin Zoo just brushes things under the rug. Ask them about any abnormal behaviour you see and they deem it to be “playing” when it’s aggression among animals that live solitary in the wild
Easy to just push things off as “unfounded” when you’ve enough money
Was in the zoo last summer. The snow leopard was just pacing up and down, no further than 10metres each way, and generally looking agitated. Is that good for conservation of the species?
The conditions of the taxi drivers is atrocious.
‘serious welfare breaches’
We signed four of the giraffes up for the dole. Turns out it was relatively easy to do. The hard part was sneaking them into the post office each week. It made us a pretty penny too, but now I guess the gig is up.
Zoos as a concept are not considered positively in modern thinking.
I await a statement on the matter from the good Senator Hoey given that she was quick enough to cast aspersions.
Worked in the zoo for a summer years ago in gift shop. I can confirm the place was ran by a bunch of morons.
6 managers for 8 staff. Nepotism galore. Hands down the worst job I have ever had in my life.
