Shamima Begum is a vile woman who deserves to be locked up, but stripping her of her citizenship was wrong. People dismissed the precedent it set, and now (obviously) they’re expanding on it.
You can’t make an exception in who you think basic rights are afforded to. If you don’t support the basic rights of a scumbag, you’re opening the door for everyone’s rights to be undermined.
While I agree this is a bad law change, comparing themselves to a terrorist isn’t how you garner support. This person came here to do good, Begum left here to do evil. While it is no doubt because of Begum we now have this nasty rule, trying to use the sympathy for Begum isn’t going to be welcomed.
This article comes across too kindly about Begum rather than the more sensible way of saying this rule risks treating minor crimes and complications as the same as being a terrorist.
