Coronavirus loans: £157m went to private schools as state schools got nothing

  1. Would that be because independent schools are run as companies and dependant on the fees whereas state schools are state owned and funded?

  2. Why are these stories not being reported on the BBC along with the PPE scandal. The bbc are too scared and are run by Tory appointees now. This is a scandal, private schools to need to be stripped of their ‘charitable’ status

  3. And let’s not forget the £20m contract given to Matt Hancock’s pub landlord.

Or the £37bn on the track and trace system.

Or the 1,000s of companies that registered on the same day, same address days after all the Covid support was announced. No basic audit was done, just billions of loans and payments written off to fraud.

  4. Why would state schools need Covid loans, they’re funded by the government and not dependant on customers paying fees

  5. There needs to be a national enquiry into all of this. I got nothing at all and even lost me job. Others had full salary and some didn’t even need to work. They had a lovely time!

  6. Excuse my ignorance but why would state schools need a loan?

Surely that would be like the government borrowing from its self?

It’s also not like they have variable revenue, or even any revenue.

  7. The amount of money fraudulently claimed and spent by businesses during this period has been wild. Businesses that were constantly talking about going under suddenly brought new premises and did refurbishments in my county. Sure its all above board though and we didn’t waste an ungodly sum of money on nothing.

  8. It’s fair to hate on private schools, complain about VAT status or charitable status etc.

Complaining about Covid loans, which were available to all private enterprises and which have likely been paid back, is all a bit faux outragey.

Pretty sure public schools received billions in funding (although they probably should have received more)

  9. I bet the goverment want to invest in these private schools because the children have more “potential” or “brains”, but wouldn’t the public schools, with time, be consider with the same potential if they had more support and staff? They need to start thinking about the furture, this generation is the future. INVEST IN YOUR BRAINS GOV!!!
